What began as a very early interest in photography as a child has become a career and way of life for the Kiwi, who grew up surrounded by nature in rural New Zealand.

Lucy is inspired to celebrate the human form and character.  She loves humanistic photography.

A driving force behind her work is taking pictures that serve as a visual record of history.

A strong mentor for her is New York world renowned photographer Elliott Erwitt.  Lucy first met Elliott in Wellington, New Zealand when he visited as a special invited guest to speak for the National Photographic Society Convention in 2004.  Lucy was able to attend the convention as part of her prize for winning the society’s exhibition of photography youth award for New Zealand.  Elliott invited her to join him on his personal photo shoots while in New Zealand.  Later she completed a Magnum Photos internship and concluded her stay in New York working under Elliott in his studio.
